Notorious Gangster Goldy Dhillon Arrested in Spain; Extradition to India Imminent
Chandigarh / Madrid: In a massive breakthrough for Indian law enforcement and international intelligence agencies, fugitive gangster Gurpreet Singh, widely known as Goldy Dhillon (or Goldy Rajpura), has been apprehended in Madrid, Spain. Dhillon, who fled India in 2022 using illegal human-smuggling routes, initially set up base in Germany before moving across Europe to evade authorities. His capture is the result of a highly coordinated, months-long intelligence operation involving the Punjab Police Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Chandigarh Police, and Interpol.
The Mastermind Behind the Sector 11 Murder
Dhillon’s arrest paves the way for his extradition to face justice for a string of heinous crimes orchestrated from abroad. Most recently, he was identified as the mastermind behind the brazen daylight murder of 45-year-old Janki Das, a cashier at Shri Kumar Medical Hall in Chandigarh’s Sector 11.
On June 13, 2026, a hit squad allegedly operating under Dhillon’s direct orders entered the pharmacy and shot Das at point-blank range, firing 13 rounds. Hours after the killing, a social media account operating under the banner of the “Goldy Dhillon Group” claimed responsibility for the assassination, using the incident to issue further threats to local businessmen.
A Trail of Terror and Extortion
Originally from Rajpura in Punjab’s Patiala district, Dhillon’s criminal portfolio includes murder, kidnapping, rioting, illegal arms supply, and running sophisticated extortion rackets.

- The Sector 5 Firing (January 2024): Dhillon was named alongside Canada-based designated terrorist Goldy Brar as a co-conspirator in an extortion-linked shooting at a businessman’s residence in Chandigarh.
- High-Profile Threats: Dhillon recently escalated his intimidation tactics by issuing direct death threats to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Neena Mittal and her family, prompting an immediate security overhaul for the politician.
- International Reach: His syndicate’s operations extended well beyond India. He is linked to multiple firing incidents and extortion demands targeting businessmen in Canada, utilizing encrypted communication apps like Zangi and Signal to direct his operatives globally.
While previously known as a close associate of the notorious Goldy Brar and the Lawrence Bishnoi syndicate, recent intelligence suggests Dhillon had begun establishing his own independent terror and extortion modules across Punjab and the Delhi-NCR region.
The Road to Extradition
The net began closing on Dhillon after the NIA declared him a fugitive, issuing a Red Corner Notice and placing a ₹10 lakh bounty on his head. The Punjab Police had also announced a separate ₹5 lakh reward for information leading to his capture.
Following the detention by Spanish authorities, Indian diplomatic and legal channels have immediately swung into action. According to senior police officials, the extradition process will be expedited. Once brought back to Indian soil, the Chandigarh Police will seek his custody on a production warrant to interrogate him comprehensively regarding the Sector 11 murder and his wider network of target-killing modules.
