MUMBAI: A 22-year-old actress, identified as Sanchita Machhindra Ugale, was found dead at her residence in Nalasopara, on the outskirts of Mumbai, on Sunday evening in an alleged case of suicide, police officials confirmed on Monday.
Investigating Officer AK Dambare of the Achole Police Station stated that the incident transpired between 6:30 PM and 7:30 PM on June 14, while the deceased was alone at home. The actress resided in Nalasopara with her parents and sister. The matter came to light when family members discovered the body and subsequently alerted law enforcement.
Current Status of the Investigation
- Official Registration: The Achole Police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR No. 58/2026).
- Initial Complaint: The initial report was filed by the deceased’s father. As of Monday, the complaint does not name any individuals, and no First Information Report (FIR) has been registered.
- Next Steps: Authorities have launched a comprehensive inquiry to determine the circumstances leading to the incident.
“We have initiated a thorough investigation into the case. So far, no foul play has been alleged by the family, and no specific individuals have been named in the initial complaint,” Officer Dambare added.
